From a humble beginning in 1979, the company started off with a Mitsubishi 10-wheeler Truck transporting cargo back and forth from the coastal city of Lae to the urban centers throughout the Papua New Guinea Highlands under a subcontract arrangement with Pagani Transport.

Traisa Transport was started by the current management in 1980 from the Ottley family who had founded, established and operated it since 1961 in Mt Hagen Western Highlands Province. With this acquisition, Traisa Transport Ltd became a 100% nationally owned company.

Throughout the years, the company continued to expand its fleet and eventually replaced all its Isuzu and Mitsubishi trucks with Kenworth, Nissan UD, Hino and Shacman Trucks. The company currently now has its owned depots along the highlands highway which includes Goroka, Hagen, Lae and also a depot in Port Moresby. The depots area space boasts some more than 20 hectors.
